Videos circulated on Saturday of Chinese police attacking Muslims protesting the demolition of the 13th-century Najiaying Mosque in the predominantly Hui Muslim Yunnan Province. The mosque had expanded its minarets and the dome’s roof in recent years, but a court ruled the additions were illegal, ordering their demolition. This comes amidst a wider crackdown on Chinese Muslims.
